Dallas – Paulding County, GA After-School Opportunities

Location: Burnt Hickory Park – 8650 Cartersville Hwy, Dallas, Ga 30132

In-person sessions are held in conjunction with the Paulding County Parks and Recreation. There is a minimum requirement of 5 students registered for the class to meet. Classes may be cancelled and money returned to you if we do not meet the minimum requirement.

Holidays

Classes will not meet on the following dates: Christmas Week 12/24-12/30, New Year’s Week 12/31-1/6, Thanksgiving Week 11/19-25, MLK Day 1/15/24, Spring Break April 1-5, Halloween 10/31

How To Register
  1. Click the registration link and you’ll be redirected to the Paulding County site
  2. Create an account through Paulding County Parks and Recreation.
  3. Login and search for the course name.
  4. Click on the course number to register.

    Register early to avoid being wait-listed.

Robotics II

  • Dates: April 8 – May 17, 2024 (6 weeks)

  • Registration: March 11 – April 3, 2024 

  • 6:00 pm -7:00 pm EST

  • Tuesdays

  • Ages 11-15 years

  • Fee:  $200 + $1 Child Advocacy Fee = $201

  • Students do not have to take Robotics 1 as a prerequisite

  • Materials needed weekly from student: tablet, laptop, or Chromebook device with an audio jack; Mac, Linux, Windows, iOS or Android operating systems

  • Description: Students will really enjoy learning the main concepts of building and coding robots. They will get a solid foundation in the programming process, problem-solving, and understanding the collaboration involved. We will introduce them to the idea of computational thinking and activities will include, but are not limited to the following:

    • become familiar with the concept of sequence, loops, what ifs, etc.
    • learn what inputs, outputs and input parameters are,
    • be able to create and modify sequential programs
    • begin to explore robotics applications to real-world situations through projects.

Robotics I

  • Dates: November 4 – December 20, 2024 (6 weeks)

  • Registration: October 7 – October 30, 2024 

  • 6:00 pm -7:00 pm EST

  • Tuesdays

  • Ages 11-15 years

  • Fee:  $200 + $1 Child Advocacy Fee = $201

  • Materials needed weekly from student: tablet, laptop, or Chromebook device with an audio jack; Mac, Linux, Windows, iOS or Android operating systems

  • Description:

    • Students will really enjoy learning the three main concepts of controlling, programming, and building robots. They will get a solid foundation in the programming process, problem-solving, and understanding the collaboration involved. Students will learn basic movement behaviors such as driving and turning, clap sensing, and line tracking. They’ll learn how to program robots to do activities like sumo wrestling and going through a maze.

Marietta – Cobb County, GA After-School Opportunities

Location: Fullers Recreation Center – 3499 Robinson Road, Marietta, GA 30068

In-person sessions are held in conjunction with  Cobb County Parks. There is a minimum requirement of 5 students registered for the class to meet. Classes may be cancelled and money returned to you if we do not meet the minimum requirement.

Holidays

  • Ages 5-12 years

  • Description: Students will really enjoy learning the three main concepts of controlling, programming, and building robots.
